Purpose

Electrical Testing Reference is a reference work on the testing of electrical power equipment. It describes what each test measures and why it is performed, which standard governs it and in which edition, which classes of equipment and instruments it involves, which edition of the National Electrical Code each state enforces, and how certification and accreditation in the trade are organized.

Every statement in the site's articles and reference pages rests on a dated, sourced record called a datum. Policy pages such as this one state the publisher's own rules and carry no datums. Each article names the standard, edition and clause that govern the subject it describes, so that a reader can go to the primary source. The site is a finding aid and an explanatory reference; it does not replace any standard and does not reproduce the text, tables or values of any licensed standard.

Ownership and funding

The site is published and funded by Verlecta LLC. Verlecta LLC also develops software for recording electrical test data. The site carries no product content: no product names, no product descriptions, no advertising, no sponsored content and no calls to action. The editorial policy binds the publisher, and the publisher has no say over the content of any page beyond that policy.

Purchase links to standards sold through the ANSI webstore may carry affiliate parameters that earn the publisher a commission. Such links are marked where they appear, and the arrangement is described in the editorial policy. No other income is connected to the site.

Editorial responsibility

Each page names an editor of record, the person who signs off the page before publication, owns the corrections log and has the final word on disputed content. As of October 2026 the editor of record has not yet been appointed, and no page has been signed off. Until an editor is appointed and signs off, no page is published; error reports received in the meantime are acknowledged and logged.

The site also provides for a reviewing engineer, a senior practitioner who reviews the technical accuracy of individual pages and is named on each page reviewed, with the review date. That position is vacant. No page on the site has been reviewed by an engineer, and pages say so until one has.

Method and policies

The editorial policy, the methodology, the corrections policy, the sources list and the change log describe how the site is written, checked and corrected. Errors can be reported through the form on the contact page at /contact/.
