Data record std.ieee-1584.structure.arcing-current-variation

Verified 2026-10-24 Confidence: High

Clause 4.5 of IEEE 1584-2018 derives a reduced arcing current from the calculated arcing current by a variation factor, so that a protective device is evaluated at a lower-bound current that may fall in a slower part of its time-current curve; the arc duration is then determined again at the reduced current, and whichever pass gives the worse result is kept.
