Clause 11.2.5 of IEEE 1547-2018 requires DER commissioning tests to follow written procedures from the manufacturer or system designer that the owner and the area electric power system operator have approved, always to include a visual inspection, and distinguishes a basic commissioning test (visual inspection plus operability of the isolation device) from a detailed one that adds functional tests of the interconnection devices as a system.
